- 2009: Our integrated phone service launches, so people affected by cancer can call just one number 0808 808 0000 for all support.
I'd never met anyone or knew anyone that had cancer or had been affected by cancer until my partner was diagnosed in March 2009. I didn't know how it could turn your life upside down; or what an impact it could have. I then found macmillan on line forum and found some amazing, caring, thoughtful people who were happy to share experiences, offer support and make the whole experience more bearable. I also found a true friend in a guy called Pat who had this mad crazy idea one night (after a few beers!) to raise money for Macmillan - the charity that had brought us all together and that already has helped us all so much! Since that day - the crazy calendar fundraising idea day - my life has not been the same. The calendar provided a focus, a passion and above all, a determination. Determination to raise money, help others and remember... Its Just A Six Letter Word! Here's to many more mad crazy ideas!!
